'Katana', by electronic music producer, Twelon. A very special cassette issue featuring handmade artwork, it's out on in a limited edition of just 50 copies.

Rooted in improvisation, Twelon (aka electronic musician, Michael Freeman) explores ambient and experimental textures after becoming immersed in "beatless electronic music not intended for a dancefloor."

Fluctuating between soft melodies, industrial drifts and esoteric hues, the two tracks here are hugely atmospheric, fused together from recordings made over the last five years. Influenced by leftfield ambient and sonic adventurers such as Leyland Kirby/The Caretaker, Abul Mogard, Tim Hecker, the Ghost Box label and others, Twelon's textural, amorphous drifts and electronic streams of consciousness are, he says, "all about being in the moment, exploring whichever emotion I'm feeling." Woozy, melancholic, transportative – as immersive soundscapes go, this is one for tuning out and plugging in.

Twelon became hooked on using software to make electronic music around 2003. After studying music production at Brighton University and honing his craft, he had a couple of digital releases under his own name in 2010, and another track, 'Quad' as part of a split EP, 'The Tee-Up' on Germany's Ecke Records in 2018.
